Because the Island is a the relative small, it is possible to travel from one side of Koh Samui to the other side in short time. For this reason many tourists choose their accommodations on quite beaches and then go in the evening in Chaweng Beach or Lamai Beach where the night life is happening.

To get around the island, there are many way of transportations: The cheaper way is by Songtheaw ( collective or public taxi ) which run several times a day and night along the ring road trough all the beaches. In koh Samui there are also several Private Taxi on the main beaches, harbors and airport.

If you want to be more independent, there are many possibilities to Rent Motorbikes, Scooters or Cars in many agency around the island.

Koh Samui beaches are fantastic very different one to the other. You can find very fine white sand beaches, coral beaches, unspoiled beaches. All Samui beaches are not so wide, the palm trees, which are standing just behind the beach, are used for shadow so many budget Hotels and Resort doesn't have any beach umbrellas or beach chairs.

The ocean water is very warm most time of the year which it make it very pleasant for swimming and snorkeling. Swimming in Koh Samui is very safe. There are not dangerous water currents except in Chaweng and Lamai during the monsoon time ( middle October to middle December).
